Settings, updates and support
Settings holds your company details, a few defaults and some optional extras. This guide also covers updates and getting help.
Open Settings
Click Settings on the home screen, or choose More ▾ → Settings… on a map. Click Save when you are done.
Your details and defaults
- Company and Prepared by: printed on the PDF and the quick print.
- Default camera height (ft): the mount height for new cameras.
- Default retention (days): the cloud retention given to new Verkada cameras.
- Auto colors: cameras whose views overlap, or that sit close together, never share a color.
- Your logo on the 3D view's trucks and buses: a PNG or SVG shown on the vehicles in the 3D traffic view.
- Disclaimer printed on every export (PDF, print, CSV): see Reports and exports.
Advanced
Click Advanced to open the optional extras. SightLine works fully without any of them.
- Google Maps API key: unlocks the Google Satellite, Google Hybrid and Google Roadmap backgrounds and Google address search. The key needs the Maps JavaScript API and Geocoding API turned on. It is stored encrypted for your Windows account. Without a key, SightLine uses Esri satellite imagery.
- Claude API key: used to read fueling-station plans with Claude, and to read camera directions from pictures when importing from IPVM. It is stored encrypted and never shown again. To remove it, type CLEAR in the box and save.
- Show Meraki sync: adds a read-only Meraki sync (read-only) button to the Smart ✨ tab, for checking a Cisco Meraki network after installation. Nothing is changed in Meraki. It needs a Meraki Dashboard API key saved on this PC; if none is found, SightLine says how to add one.
- Show Import IPVM on the home screen: adds an Import IPVM button for IPVM Camera Calculator users. Each IPVM project becomes a map.
- Element heights: the starting height of each kind of site element, also used in the 3D view.
Updates
A few seconds after SightLine starts, it checks for a new version. When one is out, the Update button on the home screen changes to Update to and the version number, with a dot.
- Click Update on the home screen, or choose Help → Check for updates….
- Read what's new and click Update now (or Later).
- SightLine downloads the update, closes, installs it and opens again. Your maps are kept.
Getting help
Email [email protected]. We aim to reply within 2 business days.
If something goes wrong in the app, send us a diagnostics report:
- Choose Help → Copy diagnostics for support.
- Click Email support to start an email, or Done to paste it yourself.
- Paste the report into the email and say what you were doing.
The report has the app version, the Windows version and recent problems. It does not include your maps or keys. Help → Contact support starts an email to us, and Help → About SightLine shows your version.
